It is common for a speaker to be made up of several drivers, each one deisgned to process a segment of the frequency range in the total audio program. 

Large speakers are great for moving a lot of air and producing low frequency bass notes, but not good at the high speed delicate movements required to produce clear high frequency notes. 

An acoustic engineer will select various combinations of drivers to work in harmony with each other to reproduce the entire program in such a way that you cant tell where on driver finishes its work and another one starts.
