Bi Wire, Tri Wire

Tri-wire

Tri Wire Speaker Cable

Rather than transmitting the entire audio signal to one crossover and letting it "decode" the program up into the various frequency ranges, it is better to use two or more crossovers.

Each crossover is dedicated to it's particular driver and electrically and magnetically isolated from each other to prevent the larger and more powerful bass notes affecting the more delicate high frequency notes.

This configuration requires the running of two or three sets of speaker cables to the speaker and this is called Bi wiring or Tri wiring respectively.
