| Carbon Fibre Gives Rigidity |
Speaker cabinets contain the
drivers and are responsible for handling the other 50% of the
energy that is not transmitted forwards to the listener. This
can either be damped or ported out of the cabinet. The
cabinet should not add it's own "colour" to the sound, and is
simply there to present the drivers to the listener.
A simple test for this is to knock the
side of a cabinet and listed for any hollow boom sound - If easy to
generate, this resonance will be create by the pressures of the
drivers and add to the audio program emmited by the drivers, this
additional pressure is noise and to be avoided at all
costs!
